What is Resource Efficiency?

Resource efficiency means using the Earth's limited resources ( recursos )in a sustainable manner. It means producing more value with fewer inputs, lessening our impact on the environment, and consuming in a more intelligent fashion.
It's an idea with major implications for the structure of the EU economy, and it affects resources of every variety – from materials and natural resources such as food, water, timber and biodiversity to energy, our atmosphere and land. The problem is that while some of these resources are crucial to our well-being and our economy, they are also finite and so supplies are limited. Rising global demand for finite resources is increasing pressure on the environment, and competition for some of the most valuable resources could lead to security risks and instability.
The message is simple: we cannot continue to consume these resources in the manner of previous generations, as there will not be enough of them to go round. We need a smarter approach that helps us safeguard our own future, using resources more efficiently.
It's an approach that forms an important strand of the EU 2020 Strategy, which sets the course for the EU economy for the next decade. EU 2020 integrates environmental considerations and economic policy, with a view to delivering smart, sustainable and inclusive growth in a resource-efficient environment that people actually want.

many forests and people do not recycle and why are there fewer trees on the planet?

This panda is endangered by pollution and hunting of pandas to get pelts and coats

tigre-blanco.jpg

The Bengal tiger is endangered because people hunt and place them in circuses and take them away and there are few.

The bald eagle is in danger of extinction because poachers hunt them and take them like pets and take the eggs and destroy them so there are fewer bald eagles.

THE BENEFITS OF SOLAR SHINGLES

Friday, February 11, 2011

It’s no secret that homeowners throughout the nation are looking for ways to cut down on their energy bills and go green. As a result, the solar technology market in the last five years has grown exponentially as homeowners install traditional solar panels on their roofs. Yet many of these households are running into problems, as their panels become the target of theft. Further, many Homeowner Associations don’t allow traditional panels on roofs because they jut up and can be seen by neighbors. This is keeping people from trying solar power, but a number of companies offer solar shingles...

Associations against the extinction of whales:

Whaling has attracted international controversy for years. Although a majority of the world has now voiced its opposition to commercial whaling, a few countries continue whaling and claim it is necessary for scientific research. Environmental organizations, including Greenpeace and the World Wildlife Fund, have for years campaigned to end whaling.
The Ban on Commercial Whaling

Many traditional communities around the world have whaled for centuries. Whaling on an industrial scale is quite recent but has severely affected the numbers of whales in the global scale. Most commercial whaling is done for whale meat: although whale oil was in demand in the past, it is used very little today. The Common minke whale and the Antarctic minke whale are the species that are hunted most often today.

The International Whaling Commission (IWC) banned commercial whaling in 1986 by issuing a moratorium. This was done to preserve the whale numbers that had diminished drastically, some to the brink of extinction. However, the World Wildlife Fund says that more than 30 000 whales have been killed by whaling after 1986 despite the moratorium. Iceland and Norway objected the ban and still continue commercial whaling, while Japan and Iceland continue whaling for falls scientific research. Whaling for scientific purposes is allowed by the IWC moratorium, an exception from the ban. This exception allows countries to give permits to whalers for conducting scientific studies, and the meat from the whales killed for research can be sold commercially.

The mammoth became extinct in prehistory because the cavemen hunted them for food. They got burnt by the fire when it (el fuego) was discovered and they all disappeared. They are like elephants but larger and with long horns in the mouth.

The Iberian lynx (Lynx pardinus) is a species of carnivorous mammal of the Felidae family, they are native in the Iberian Peninsula. Currently there are only two isolated populations in Andalucia together with a total of less than 300 individuals, plus another in theToledo Mounts of only fifteen individuals, making it the most endangered cat in the world.

World Environment Day antinuclear:

This 5 June,World Environment Day,Greenpeace called a big demonstration inTanquem Nuclears in Barcelona.

In Spain, the Government concerned about the nuclear crisis takes measures to bring a progressive and urgent closure of the nuclear plants which have serious deficient sands in order they not to fulfill their life cycles.

It has been almost three months since the nuclear accident in Fukushima and the problems do not diminish in Japan, where some villages have been evacuated, others continue being exposed to unacceptable radiation levels, especially for children, and extensive areas of land and marine ecosystems have been contaminated while nuclear is still out of control
